Introduction

Technical writing is a high-level skill in today's world, as technology continues to rapidly evolve and innovations emerge. Technical writers play a critical role in translating complex information into easily understandable language for various audiences.

In this blog, we will explore the discussions of the sessions of Day 2 and take advice from amazing technical writers and get the answers to the questions.

Day 2

On day 2, we had Nader Dabit and Komuves Akos where they discussed Leveraging social media for monetization and Building your personal brand on social media respectfully.

Session 1

The First speaker is Nader Dabit, a Developer, author, and teacher. Director of Devrel AAVE & Lens protocol and Founder of Developer Dao.

At the first of the session Nader shares his experience, He shares his experience with content creation, personal branding, and community engagement. He started coding in 2013 and created community events in 2014, writing his first blog post in 2015, the blog is about the solution to a problem and the blog is popular so, he continue to create content and do conferences in 2016. Nader created the first training company - React training company in 2017. From there, he started learning AWS and becomes a DevRel at AWS.

Does your Online Presence say who you say you are?

Nader Dabit discusses the importance of personal branding and having a clear online presence. He explains that When someone visits your profile, they have to get some instance of who you are. You should have a clear overview of your profile and what you want to become. He emphasizes the need for a clear bio on social media. Nades share, how he handles this by seeking professional help to review their profile and recommend updates for his profile. Having a Good consistent profile picture is important. Additionally Having a specialization in at least one thing, invest some more time to learn so, you can stand out from others in understanding the concept. Finally, he points up the importance of Backlinks for linking all of your profiles(portfolio, GitHub, etc..) and information together.

Optimize for the time-constrained

Having one more page is better than having a ten-page resume. Because the company reads thousands of resumes.

Online Presence / Social Media

In this section, the importance of a concise personal brand and consistency in community engagement is emphasized. Learning in public is the best way to build a personal brand, take the skill, and share what you've learned, GitHub repos and creating videos of what you're learning can lead to building relationships and career opportunities. Beyond Learning in public, specific things are

  • Be consistent

You are doing land an opportunity on day 1, you have to do continuously and consistently weekly once then you are going to reach out to the organizations.

  • Be Helpful (Without expecting anything in return)

    You are trying to help people and it helps you to learn more. And you are going to build your network and friends.

  • Be authentic

    You just be yourself. Don't show off.

  • Be active/ engaging

    If you are looking for some of the opportunities, try to engage in the communication of the opportunity and introduce yourself to them.

  • Walk the line between engaging and helpful without relying on gimmicks

    For example, the types of folks who don't know about the technology and went into thread and comments in that post.

  • Backlink social media profiles

    Compile all your social at one place

  • Use rich media

    It means, using images, and visuals to share what you've learned.

  • If you feel uncomfortable or cringe you're probably doing something right.

  • Be thoughtful about how you format your writing- make it scannable

    Explain the complex topic into smaller ones. It is better to have a thread of small points than to have a long thread.

  • Leverage other people's networks and audiences

    Let's say, you know something, and you want to reach out for more help but you don't have an audience. you want to reach 1000s of people. Engage with them and collaborate.

    Content creation

    Content creation Tips:

  • Reuse content in multi formats

  • Create resources for yourself- you want to solution but can't get it online, share your solution and how did you solve the problem.

  • If something has already been done, do it differently or better.

  • Good artists borrow, and great artists, steal

  • Tap into other networks- connect with other writers.

  • You only need to be good at one thing.

  • Mix things to create something new.

    Session 2

    The second speaker is Komuves Akos, a software Engineer, Ex-CTO, Freelancer, and Writer.

Akos emphasizes that there is no competition to build a personal brand, just share your learnings and progress.

Akos discusses the benefits of writing and improving it. Storytelling also helps us to share our unique stories and connect with the audience.

The quality of your audience is a function of your content quality

Akos also emphasizes the importance of quality content, that will lead to a genuine audience and attract high-quality followers.

Akos also notes the Three-step algorithm for every social media to obtain new followers are Impressions, Profile picks, and Decisions. The impressions also lead to profile visits, then the viewer decides whether they should connect with you or not by seeing your profile.
